22 de Junho - Citação do Dia
Language was like clothes; it could be a help to one, or it could give one away. But the most important thing was that one should not pretend to be what one was not. Willa Cather, The Song of The Lark
Citando quem? Ana ela própria, será? Strange, I've always thought of language as analogous to skin. Domination of a language other than one's mother-tongue is like makin..no, NO! Not going there!..Is like wearing a second skin. But now I'm thinking of the clothes analogy. E gosto. Seja que for, se trata de uma materia cheia de complexidades:what we say; what we don't; how it is said; why. Not to mention how much it is possible to achieve in terms of communication without words, when there is no common language. A pool of darkest green, reflecting a mysterious, apparently sourceless dash of vermilion, edged in soft yellow...........

This blog's quality is certified: the texts are never mine. It's an ongoing contest really. For further information, read my December 28 post.
Willa Cather creio eu, ja a vi em qualquer lado (talvez num site de citacoes) ou no My Antonia
D. Passarinha de Oxford, seja bem-vinda de novo a esta sua casa!
